What is NEET With Full Information?

Introduction:

The National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET) is a national-level entrance exam conducted by the National Testing Agency (NTA) for students aspiring to pursue undergraduate medical courses such as MBBS and BDS in India. NEET replaced all other state and national level medical entrance exams in India from 2013 onwards. In this article, we will discuss in detail about NEET and its various aspects.

What is NEET?

The National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET) is an entrance exam conducted for admission to medical and dental courses in India. The exam is conducted by the National Testing Agency (NTA) on behalf of the Medical Council of India (MCI). NEET is held once a year, usually in the month of May. The exam consists of multiple-choice questions (MCQs) and covers topics such as Physics, Chemistry, and Biology.

NEET Exam Pattern:

The NEET exam consists of 180 multiple-choice questions (MCQs) which are divided into three sections: Physics, Chemistry, and Biology. Each correct answer carries four marks, while one mark is deducted for each incorrect answer. The total duration of the exam is three hours.

NEET Eligibility Criteria:

To be eligible for NEET, a candidate must have completed 17 years of age at the time of admission or will complete the age on or before 31st December of the year of his/her admission to the first year of MBBS/BDS course. The candidate must also have passed 10+2 or equivalent with Physics, Chemistry, Biology/Biotechnology, and English with at least 50% marks.

NEET Syllabus:

The NEET syllabus is based on the topics covered in the 11th and 12th standard CBSE syllabus for Physics, Chemistry, and Biology. The syllabus includes topics such as Human Physiology, Plant Physiology, Ecology, Genetics, Reproduction, and Biotechnology.

NEET Application Process:

The NEET application process is conducted online. Candidates can visit the official website of NTA to fill the application form. The application fee can be paid online through debit/credit card or net banking.

NEET Admit Card:

The NEET admit card is released by the NTA on its official website. Candidates can download their admit card using their login credentials.

NEET Exam Date:

The NEET exam is usually conducted in the month of May. The exact date of the exam is announced by the NTA on its official website.

NEET Results:

The NEET results are usually declared within a month after the exam. Candidates can check their results on the official website of NTA using their login credentials.

NEET Counselling Process:

The NEET counselling process is conducted by the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) for 15% All India Quota seats and by the respective state counselling authorities for the remaining seats. The counselling process includes registration, choice filling, seat allotment, and document verification.

NEET Cut-off:

The NEET cut-off is the minimum qualifying marks that a candidate must obtain in order to be eligible for admission to medical and dental colleges. The cut-off marks are declared by the respective counselling authorities.
